The tools used for our sample process are as follows:
Scanner
- http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/H-1268/Bar-Code-Equipment/Symbol-LS-3578FZ-Industrial-Cordless-Scanner?FromOrderHistory=Y
- Please note that this product does not appear to be available but will remain as an example of a working scanner.
- The scanner communicates with the computer via USB by scanning standard 2D bar codes.
- Once the Oasis software is installed, you can install the scanner.
- Once that is installed, sync it by scanning the bar code on the scanner’s cradle.
Touch Screen
- HP Compaq LT105tm http://www.amazon.com/Compaq-L2105TM-LCD-Touch-Monitor/dp/B002VJL0RA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334358135&sr=8-1
- Ingen programmed the Oasis sample checkout system to be compatible with any touch screen; any touch screen monitor will suffice.
Dymo Label Maker
- http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/934857/DYMO-LabelWriter-450-Turbo-Labeler/
- We use this label maker to print labels for sample tags. This label maker uses heat to produce labels and not ink, which saves money.
- This method is far more efficient than relying on editing Avery labels in a word document
Tags
- http://www.uline.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?modelnumber=S-10749W&FromOrderHistory=Y
- These are the white tags used for labeling samples. Unfortunately they’re very flimsy and can bend easily.
- Laminating these tags helps them gain rigidity.
Strings
- http://www.uline.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?modelnumber=S-921&FromOrderHistory=Y
- Use these strings to tie the tags to samples.
