Collapse-able Options in the O4 Project Editor?!!

The Option concept in OASIS is getting a lot of new features throughout the system. Too much to disclose in one shot. But one very nice concept for O4 Project editor users is the ability to collapse (hide) the material under individual options. The idea is that one can hide the contents of a lost option while continuing to work the items on the quote you did get an order on. To be clear, there are the following options with meaning:

  • Option - I'm quoting it and the items may change as I'm waiting on the customer
  • Win Option - The customer sent me a PO! Convert to orders (if not already ordered)
  • Pending Option - Waiting on the customer, but other material needs to be quoted or ordered
  • Abandoned Option - The customer decided not to do the option (e.g. they took the LED option over the cheaper fluorescent option - or the decided not to upgrade the back office this time)
  • Lost Option - the customer ordered from your competitor

Yes, these marking DO affect your win/loss reporting.

  • I like the being able to do this, but is it possible to extend the concept? I'd like to be able to apply parent/child row level relationships on a more ad-hoc basis as needed outside of the Option constraint. For example, let's say we had a BOM where there were several kits, or lot line items that have a header row, and then several rows of dependencies:

    Qty:  Type:  Description:
    1        F2      20' Assembly, Consisting of:
    1        F2      20' LED Tape
1        F2      21' Aluminum Channel, Contractor to Cut to Length
    1        F2      Power Supply
    1        F2      0-10V Driver

In the above example, I would like to make the bottom 4 lines collapsible under the top "consisting of:" line. This would allow easier movement through the quote, as well as better show dependent items. Could we also use the collapse/expand icon as a click-and-drag to relocate or copy/paste the whole subsection within the project editor?

  • The drag and drop is planned to happen in the future. However, ad-hoc line relationships will likely be handled by expanding the kit concept we already have. More on that as we move through the development process.
