OASIS Hardware Requirements

It is critical that the machine that hosts the database is as reliable as possible and capable of storing increasing amounts of data. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that a server class machine with a RAID array is used to host the OASIS database. General workstations are not designed for the wear and tear that comes from constantly handling a database application. It is possible to run OASIS on a workstation with a single user's PC running as the "server" but this is not recommended except for small group or remote offices with few users.

If the server and workstations are new or a few years old, they should be sufficient for OASIS usage. However, depending on the extent of other programs running on the machines concurrently, users may need to add more memory or disk space.

The minimum client and server hardware requirements, as well as Ingen Software's recommendations for hardware are listed below. Note: minimum server requirements are suitable for new customers. Customers with larger databases are going to require more disk space and more ram to operate smoothly. For more information, please contact support

Minimum Client Hardware/OS Requirements

OS: Windows 8 or 10, Mac OSX 10.7 or later
RAM: 8 GB or more
CPU: 1.6 GHz dual core or faster
Network: Gigabit wired

Recommended Client Hardware/OS Requirements

OS: Windows 10 or 11, Mac OSX 10.7 or later
RAM: 8 GB or more
CPU: 1.6 GHz dual core or faster
Network: Gigabit wired

Minimum Server Hardware/OS Requirements

For smaller groups of 1-10 employees using a PC using as server:

OS: Windows 8,10, or later
RAM: 16 GB or more
DISK: 50 GB free  
CPU: 2.0 GHz dual core (AMD or Intel) or faster 
Network: Gigabit wired

For larger groups of 10+ employees using a PC as a server:

OS: Windows 10 or later
RAM: 16 GB or more
DISK: 100 GB free
CPU: 2.5 GHz dual core (AMD or Intel) or faster
Network: Gigabit wired

Caution: it is not recommended that groups with 10+ employees use a PC as a server, but with solid state drives and sufficient RAM, it is possible.

Recommended Server Hardware/OS Requirements

For smaller groups with 1-10 employees: 

OS: Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2019 or later
RAM: 16 GB or more
DISK: 50 GB free
CPU: 2.0 GHz dual core (AMD or Intel) or faster
USB 3.0 highly recommended (for backups to removable media)

For larger groups of 10+ employees:

OS: Windows Server 2019 or later
RAM: 16 GB + 1 GB per each user
DISK: 100 GB free
CPU: 2.5 GHz dual core (AMD or Intel) or faster
Network: Gigabit wired
USB 3.0 highly recommended

Notes About Servers and Services

• Contact customer support for information about integrating with Terminal Services, VPNs, web technologies, or other applications. 
• Windows Server 2016+ is supported only with installer version W711A0 or later.
• Mac Servers are not supported. OASIS will still work for Mac clients.
