OASIS can generate/send emails.  This document will cover the following functions:

  • Setting up Email Preferences
  • Configuring Email Connectors
  • Setting up Email Signature

 

Setting Up Email Preferences

Perform the following steps to set up an Email Preference:

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop-down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.

  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Click "Save" to complete the process.

 

Configuring E-Mail Connectors

There are seven E-Mail Connectors in OASIS to choose from. The available Connectors are as follows:

  • Gmail
  • Microsoft Outlook on Windows
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • SMTP
  • Registered EML Application
  • Mozilla Thunderbird – CLI
  • MAPI

Note: if you are logged into one of the following Email servers, the logged in address will override what ever is in the "Email Address" field:

  • Microsoft Outlook on Windows
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Registered EML Application
  • Mozilla Thunderbird - CLI

For the following email servers, the "Email Address" field will be used:

  • SMTP
  • MAPI

For these email servers, the "Email Address" field can be updated.

 

Note: to select an email connector, users must be on release W507 or later.  

1. Gmail

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select the "Google Mail" from the "E-Mail Connector" field by clicking on the down arrow.
  • Click "Login to Gmail", which will launch your web browser.
  • Follow the steps required by Gmail to grant access to OASIS.
  • Once completed, a blue OASIS screen will appear, directing you to return to the OASIS email preferences window.
  • Click "Save" to complete the process.

 

2. Microsoft Outlook on Windows

NOTE: if you have more than one email assigned to your Outlook account, this connector will not work.

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Select "Microsoft Outlook on Windows" for Outlook 2010 and later. 
  • Select "Install Redemption" to connect to older versions of Outlook.  
  • Note: If you receive an error popup, close OASIS, and select "Shift + Right Click" on the OASIS icon, and select "Run as Administrator," then repeat select "Install Redemption."
  • Click “Save” to complete the process.

3. Microsoft Office 365

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Select "Microsoft Office 365”
  • Click the “Login to Office 365” button to have OASIS login to Office 365. A browser will open – login normally.
  • Then grant OASIS access to send emails.
  • If Oasis alerts that the token has expired, you will have to return here and re-login or grant security rights to OASIS.
  • Click “Save” to complete the process.

4. Microsoft Exchange

NOTE: it is recommended to use the Microsoft Office 365 connector instead of Microsoft Exchange. By the end of 2022, this connector will no longer work as Microsoft will be deprecating the service.

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Select "Microsoft Exchange."
  • Note: if you have version 2007 or later, you can connect directly to the Microsoft Exchange Server to send emails.
  • Enter the direct link to the Microsoft Exchange “Server” box.
  • Note: this will often follow the format “mail.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx"  
  • Replace "mail.domain.com" with your email server name/domain.
  • Note: "mail.domain.com" is not a valid server address.
  • Click “Save” to complete the process.

5. SMTP

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Select SMTP for email providers, such as Gmail. 
  • Note: you must change your Google Account settings to allow "non-secure apps" to connect. OASIS is secure, but it is treated as an unknown third-party program. You must also turn off the "2-step verification” setting for OASIS to be permitted to send emails through your Gmail account. 
  • Check the "SSL" box or the "TLS" box. These encryptions are both available for this connector. 
  • Enter “Server” and “Port” information from your email provider.
  • Click “Save” to complete the process.

6. Registered EML Application

  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Select "Registered EML Application’. This will use whatever email program that is registered to handle .eml files. 
  • Click “Save” to complete the process.

7. Mozilla Thunderbird - CLI

  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Select "Mozilla Thunderbird - CLI."
  • Click “Save” to complete the process.

8. MAPI

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-Mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Select the "Connector" tab.
  • Select an "E-Mail Connector" by clicking on the down arrow
  • Scroll down to make your selection.
  • Select "MAPI" to use the default email client on your computer. 
  • Click “Save” to complete the process.

Setting up an Email Signature

Perform the following steps to set up an Email Signature:

  • Navigate to the Oasis Home Page.
  • Single click "File."
  • The File options drop down box will appear.
  • Single click "E-Mail Preferences."
  • The "Configure E-mail Connector" window will appear.
  • Single click the "Signature" tab.
  • “Signature for emails being sent – text only” is displayed.
  • Enter the “Signature” text you would like to display with the email. 
  • Select "Save" to complete the process.
  • Note: formatting of text is not supported
