Users with admin access can add the ability for OASIS to calculate commissions automatically to pay commissioned sales accounts. This is called "Payday Reporting."
Sales Accounts are who gets credit for the order. Giving a person or entity credit for the order will show sales dollars and earnings dollars on any reports associated with the commissioned account. Often, credit for orders may need to be split between sales people, branch offices, or other entities. Users can enter the number of splits necessary, but the total must equal 100%.
To pay commissioned sales people and to split credits, sales accounts must be created in OASIS. Note: the sales account does not need to have access to OASIS.
Setting Up Sales Accounts
1. Navigate to the Configuration page.
2. Select "Sales Accounts" from the drop-down list.
3. Select "File," and then select "New Sales Account." Note: alternatively, users may select the button.
4. The "Sales Account Editor" window will appear.
5. Enter a name for the account and a description of the account.
6. Ensure the "Active" box is checked.
7. If you do not wish to pay this account commission, select "OK."
Assigning Credit to Sales Accounts
The amount credited to a sales account is the amount of credit they receive for the sale. OASIS calculates this as the percent of credit taken from the total commission, overage, or margin. This percent of credit is assigned to sales accounts in the "Sales Account Editor" window.
1. Open the needed sales account entry in OASIS.
2. The "Sales Account Editor" window will appear.
3. If paying commissioned salespeople, enter the following credits:
- Percent of commission- the percentage of the total commission the sales account receives on the order
- Percent of overage- the percentage of the total overage the sales account receives on the order
- Percent of margin- the percentage of total markup (profit) the sales account receives on the order
4. Select "OK."
Paying Sales Accounts
1. Navigate to the Orders page.
2. Create a new order or open an existing order.
3. In the "General" tab, locate the "Sales Account" section.
4. In the "Account" column, enter the sales account ID.
5. In the "Percent" column, enter the percent of credit the account will receive.
6. Select the button to add lines.
7. Add accounts and percent of credits as needed. Note: the total of the percents must equal 100%.
Example 1: Commission with Full Credit
When the sales account, Jane Doe, was configured, her percent of commissions was set to 18.5%.
In the order, Jane Doe receives 100% credit for the order. If the total sales were $1000 and commission for the order was 10%, Jane Doe receives 18.5% of the 10% commission on $1000 in sales.
10% commission of $1000 in total sales is a commission of $100 due.
Jane receives 18.5% of the commission ($100), so her total due is $18.50.
Example 2: Commission with Half Credit
When the sales account, Jane Doe, was configured, her percent of commissions was set to 18.5%.
In the order, Jane Doe receives 50% credit for the order. If the total sales were $1000 and commission for the order was 10%, Jane Doe receives 10% of the commission on 50% of the sales.
50% credit of the total sale is $500. Commission is 10% of $500, which is $50.00 due.
Jane receives 18.5% of the commission ($50.00), so her total due is $9.25
Example 3: Commission with Overage
When the sales account, Jane Doe, was configured, her percent of commissions was set to 18.5% and her percent of overage was set to 1%.
In the order, Jane Doe receives 100% credit for the order. If the total sales were $1000 with a $100 overage (assumed already split with manufacturer), and the commission is 10% of the total sales, Jane Doe receives 18.5% of the 10% commission, plus 1% of any overage.
10% commission of $1000 in total sales is a commission of $100 due.
Jane receives 18.5% of the commission ($100) plus 1% of the overage ($100), so her total due is $18.50 plus $1.00. Jane receives $19.50.
Reporting
When running most order reports by sales account, users will only see the portion credited to the account. Below is an example of a Bookings report ran by account. The report is broken down by manufacturer. On the report, the PO is split between "Demo" and "Sal2." The total amount of the order was $422.00. Demo is credited 50%, which is a total of $211.00 in commission.
