O4 allows users to generate bearer tokens for JSON API use. This article will explain how to generate a bearer token for yourself, for other users, and for customer contacts. Note: customer contacts will only be able to access the Order Status JSON API for the Customer Portal. They will only be able to call their data.
Creating a Bearer Token for Yourself
1. Click , then select Security Settings from the drop-down list.
2. The User Security page will appear.
3. In the Authentication section, click for the Generate API Bearer Token field. Note: multiple tokens can be generated.
4. The token will generate. Click and drag to select the text, then copy the token for use.
5. Enter a name into the Name field. This allows for organization among multiple bearer tokens.
6. Set an expiration date for the bearer token in the Expiration field.
7. Click .
Creating a Bearer Token for Another User
Note: this process requires admin access to users.
1. Select the icon.
2. Select Configuration from the drop-down list.
3. Select Users.
4. The Users Listing will appear.
5. Click a user in the listing to open it.
6. Click , then click the API Tokens tab.
7. Once the tab is in edit mode, click . Note: multiple tokens can be generated.
8. The token will appear. Click and drag to select the text, then copy the token for use.
9. Enter a name into the Name field. This allows for organization among multiple bearer tokens.
10. Set an expiration date for the bearer token in the Expiration field.
10. Click .
Creating a Bearer Token for a Contact
1. Click the icon.
2. Select Contacts from the drop-down list.
3. The Contact Listing will appear.
4. Open an existing contact.
5. The Contact Viewer will appear. Click to edit the contact entry.
6. On the General tab under the User Keys & Web Access section, click for the Generate API Bearer Token field.
7. The token will appear. Click and drag to select the text, then copy the token for use.
8. Enter a name into the Name field. This allows for organization among multiple bearer tokens.
9. Set an expiration date for the bearer token in the Expiration field.
10. Click .

For user type "API Access" this method won't work, since that user type is unable to log into the O4 UI directly. Generating tokens for an API user must be done by an admin account with O4 access under the Users Configuration menu
